Background & Training:

My name is Debby, and I am a qualified systemic psychotherapist and consultant. I was born in Nigeria and have lived in Ireland for over 20 years. As a Systemic Psychotherapist, my role is to support and guide you in your journey to rewrite or own your story. I believe that everyone has the potential to overcome their struggles and lead a fulfilling life. I use a variety of approaches to tailor the sessions to your needs and goals. Together, we can work towards identifying the root causes of your concerns and develop effective coping strategies to help you move forward.

Approaches

Systemic Therapy: This form of therapy focuses on addressing the problems people present in their relationships with significant people in their lives and social networks. Systemic therapists are professionally trained to work with various issues and concerns. They work with individuals, couples, families, and children.

Narrative Therapy is particularly drawn to owning and rewriting one’s story through by illuminating those narratives that had been rendered dominant by stereotypes or socially constructed belief systems. The goal of narrative therapy is to change the problem’s impact rather than the client. When working with a narrative therapist, you are the expert on your story. They create a space for you to explore and rewrite your stories to promote positive change and growth.

Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy: This is an empirically supported approach that facilitates clients in their recovery from trauma by recognizing and addressing their negative beliefs about the event that occurred. Additionally, this model allows clients to write a narrative about the event, with them standing as the author.

Brief Strategic Family Therapy is culturally aware approach, that treats the entire family as the client. family dynamics and behavioural patterns that can be causing conflict are explored. Through collaborative dialogue family becomes aware of these patterns, the family is responsible for implementing healthy changes that will help them address issues and improve their well-being.

Family members are free to express themselves and work together to create a more harmonious unit. This approach is planned out and systematic, allowing connections to grow and get healthier with every session.
