• Relationship (couples) sessions are priced between €90-€120.

Irish Life Health
Psychotherapists/Counsellors must be accredited members of the IACP or ICP. Psychologists must be a member of the IACP or PSI. 

Therefore, any plans that specify they allow for visits with either a psychologist/ psychotherapist or counsellor allow members to claim a contribution towards visits to a practitioner who is an accredited member of the above bodies, up to the level of cover listed for the benefit on their Table of Cover.

The following benefits are examples of some that offer contributions towards counselling sessions.

Adult Counselling benefit – Counsellors and Therapists

Claim back amount depends on the plan.  The counsellor or therapist must be a full member of the Irish Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (IACP), The Irish Council for Psychotherapy (ICP), the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy or the Irish Association of Behavioural and Cognitive psychotherapy.

Members on the ExcelCare, 360 Care, and 360 Care Select, Care Select, ConnectCare, Connect Choice, Connect Choice 500, Connect Simplicity, Control 150 Create, Health Secure Plus, Inspire, Inspire Plus, Prime, Principle, Simply Health Choice, Simply Health Plus, Simply Health Plus 500Total health Complete 175 and Total health Plus are eligible to claim this benefit.

All claims are assessed in accordance with the Terms and Conditions of the policy for the renewal period you are claiming for.


VHI
VHI advise that they do not provide a list of plans that will cover visits to  practitioners as the benefits on the plan are subject to change. This means that at any time they may add the benefit to a plan or remove this benefit.  VHI recommend  clients contact them directly to check their benefits and to ascertain their cover in relation to counselling.

Under VHI’s  Covid rules, which were extended to the 31st December 2022, they have expanded the definition of Counsellor or Psychotherapist as outlined below, therefore any member with a Psychology or Child counselling benefit can claim for a visit to a member of the IACP. Previously this was only available for PSI registered practitioners.
Counsellor/Psychotherapist: A practitioner registered with one of the following bodies; Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP); Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI); The Irish Council for Psychotherapy (ICP).”
