Sabrina Mengrani, MUKCP
Psychotherapist
Background
Sabrina is an integrative, humanistic psychotherapist with a Masters in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy, accredited by the UKCP, working with teenagers, young people, and adults navigating identity, overwhelm, and relational patterns.
They have spent the last five years working therapeutically with young people between the ages of 3 and 18, as well as adults, parents and carers, across schools, youth organisations, therapy centres, and in private practice.
Sabrina has a particular interest in working at the intersections of identity, and how these different aspects of the self interact with each other and the world, be that race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, culture, class or religion. They take a trauma-informed, culturally sensitive approach to understanding clients’ inner world, and seek to sensitively and respectfully work with clients’ lived experience.
Clinical Approach:
Every person comes to therapy with their own unique situation and experience. Sabrina uses a range of approaches to meet you where you are. These include psychodynamic, person-centred, somatic and body-based, and creative and expressive interventions, building on the foundation of the therapeutic relationship. They draw upon the concepts of attachment theory, trauma-informed care, somatic work, neuroscience, and developmental psychology, ensuring their work is grounded in clinical research and practice. Within these frameworks is the implicit need to be sensitive to different cultures and experiences, to provide a curiosity to your experience that allows you to explore safely and without judgement.
Their goal as a psychotherapist is to move with you through emotional difficulties, using creative interventions and metaphor to think about that which can be difficult to put into words. The work is relational and seeks to deepen personal understanding of patterns and sensations, with the hope that through this work you can get to know yourself better.
Therapy is a place that is yours. To be messy, to let go, to reveal the parts you don’t want to admit exist. To be witnessed, and be seen. To figure out and reveal all the different parts that make up who you truly are, and it can be overwhelming even knowing where to begin. You don’t need to – the only requirement is the willingness to show up.
