Background & Education

Deirdre Savage MIAHIP is a fully qualified and accredited psychotherapist with a Master’s degree in Psychotherapy and a Higher Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy from Dublin Business School.  She also holds a Certificate in Counselling Skills from ICHAS and is a registered member of the Irish Association of Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy (IAHIP).  Deirdre is committed to upholding the highest standards of ethical and professional practice. She engages in regular individual and group supervision and continues to deepen her clinical skills through ongoing professional development.

Before training as a therapist, Deirdre worked in the financial services sector for 15 years. She completed a BA (Hons) in European Studies and a qualification as a Qualified Financial Advisor. This background gives her valuable insight into the pressures of demanding professional environments, and the emotional toll that work-related stress, life transitions, and identity changes can bring.

Clinical Approach – Individual Therapy

Deirdre brings genuine curiosity, presence, and care to her work with each client. Her approach is tailored to the individual—based on your needs, pace and goals. Drawing from both humanistic and psychodynamic approaches, Deirdre integrates a range of therapeutic methods, including:

  • Object relations theory
  • Person-centred therapy
  • Body psychotherapy
  • Stress management techniques

She offers a warm, non-judgmental space where you can reflect and explore life’s challenges. Her aim is to support your personal growth while respecting your values, strengths, and capacity for self-understanding and change.

She has completed additional training and CPD in areas such as

The effects of childhood abuse.

To further support clients living with physical health challenges, Deirdre has also completed the Living Well with Arthritis and Related Conditions programme through Arthritis Ireland, deepening her understanding of chronic pain and fatigue
