Lisa Benson MIACP is a fully accredited psychotherapist and holds both a Diploma and BA (Hons) degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy from the Institute of Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy (IICP) which consisted of four years of training. She is currently in the final stages of a two-year Master of Arts Degree in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) with The Irish College of Humanities and Applied Sciences (ICHAS). Lisa also holds a master’s certificate in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (MBCT).
Lisa is an Integrative Psychotherapist, her main psychotherapeutic approach is Humanistic and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) while integrating other therapeutic modalities depending on the clients’ presenting issues and needs i.e., Humanistic, Person-centred, Existential, ACT, Gestalt, Psychodynamic, Reality therapy/Choice Theory (RT/CT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT).
Lisa is our CBT specialist and has a particular clinical interest in supporting individuals affected by Chronic Pain and Endometriosis. She Is extremely passionate about her work and has broad experience with issues like Surgical Trauma, Infertility, Workplace Bullying, Addiction, Suicide Ideation, Abortion, Relationship Issues, Family Estrangement, Generalized Anxiety Disorder(GAD), Social Anxiety Disorder(SAD), Depression, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder(OCD), Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Panic Disorder, Bi-Polar, Anger, Loss, terminal illness , Grief and eating disorders.
Her therapeutic approach is adapted around the individual needs of each client, where confidentiality, respect and trust are key to successful therapeutic outcomes. Lisa provides a safe and comfortable space for each client, which is non-judgmental, empathic, and supportive. Lisa is available for both short and long-term therapy in person, on video or telephone therapy.
Lisa’s MA dissertation focuses on the “Exploration of the effects of Endometriosis on
Women’s Mental Health”, an extremely painful and misunderstood condition that
seriously impacts many aspects of a women’s life.
