Training & Accreditation
James Fay is a qualified psychotherapist with a MSc in Psychotherapy from Dublin City University. James is also a graduate from University College Dublin where he received a BA Honours Degree in Sociology as well as a certificate in Social Justice. James is a pre-accredited member of the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP) and adheres to their Professional Code of Ethics.
James’ expertise lies in helping you express, acknowledge and process your emotions – especially those rooted in anxiety, low self-esteem, stress, abuse or trauma – which can be confusing to articulate. Drawing on a range of complementary approaches, such as Person-centred, Psychodynamic, Systemic, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), James will work with you to reframe how you experience challenging areas of your life. Together you will explore options and new perspectives which may help to bring about change.
Experience & Areas of Interest
James has a range of professional and voluntary experience in a number of sectors, including services for third-level students, homeless people, and people with intellectual disabilities, as well as crisis counselling.
With experience both in person and online, James has worked across a broad range
of issues including, but not limited to: anxiety, panic attacks, depression, loneliness,
self-esteem & confidence, loss of identity, trauma, grief, self-harm & suicidal thoughts,
stress management, intimacy and relationship issues, sex related issues, identity &
James’ focus area of interest has always been the individual – your context, your
experiences, your stories.
